Andreas von Specht as Guest Speaker at the 36th EBS Symposium
At this year’s EBS Symposium, held on 19–20 September, Andreas von Specht, Founder and Managing Partner of AvS Advisors, was invited as a guest speaker on the second day of the event. Organized by students of EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht, the symposium – now in its 36th year – once again offered a rich program of keynotes, expert panels, and interactive discussions featuring leading voices from business, academia, and politics.
In his talk, titled “Walking down my memory lane,” Andreas von Specht reflected on key milestones in his professional journey – from early detours and a deliberate reorientation after serving as CEO, through years of international leadership responsibility, to founding AvS Advisors. He spoke about the importance of attitude, curiosity, and emotional maturity in responsible leadership, encouraging students to look beyond linear career paths: “There is no right or wrong – and one size doesn’t fit all.”
Von Specht’s connection to EBS runs deep. He studied at the European Business School from 1979 to 1984, completing his degree across the network’s campuses in Germany, the United Kingdom, and France. Returning as a guest speaker marked not only a visit to his alma mater but also an opportunity for direct exchange with the next generation of future leaders.
