Dr. Christian Bühring-Uhle

Munich | Bogotà

Christian Bühring-Uhle, based in Munich and Bogotá, is passionate about “people technology” and about helping the owners of privately held businesses to be successful in orienting and leading their organizations in increasingly challenging, “VUCA” (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) times – especially in international, intercultural contexts. He enjoys assessing and harnessing leadership potential, as well as finding great matches between individual leaders and organizations.

Previously, Christian was the first non-family CEO and shareholder of a globally active, traditional Hanseatic trading house, working with three generations of the ownership family to modernize the governance structure and reposition the group. Before that, Christian spent eight years in strategy consulting, as a Principal/Partner at BCG and Solon Management Consulting in Munich, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Washington, DC. He started his professional career as an Attorney in New York with international corporate law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Christian holds a Doctorate in Law from Hamburg University and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. His academic focus is on “people technology”, and for over 25 years he has been teaching and publishing in the fields of negotiation management, mediation and corporate/family governance. Christian has served on the boards of several international businesses/non-profit organizations, and as a mentor to high-impact entrepreneurs for Endeavor. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor sports, historical novels, cooking, and the study of fine wine.
